Qualifications in conflict management

Frontline personnel

Maybo clients can opt for training that leads to a City & Guilds Certificate in Conflict Management.

It provides customer-facing staff with the confidence and practical skills they need to protect themselves, their service users and their organisation.

Maybo also offers BIIAB awards and certification in conflict management and physical intervention skills in licensed retail. 

Maybo offers several IOSH certificated courses.

• "Managing the tough Stuff – Negotiation Skills and Managing Conflict" – A three day programme  
• "Lasting Solutions to Work Related Violence" – Two day course.

Vocational Related Qualification (VRQ) Level 2 conflict management (1884): 
For people who face verbal abuse at work they will need to take the course that gives a level 2 qualification. This will enable them to:

• Assess and reduce the risk of violence in the work environment
• Identify behaviour that indicates an escalation towards violence and take appropriate measures to avoid or calm and defuse the situation
• Provide post incident support and use the circumstances of the incident for personal and organisation learning

The VRQ level 2 qualification comprises of 10 learning hours combining pre-study and practical skills training.

Proposed VRQ Level 3 conflict management PI (1884): 
This VRQ level 3 qualification will be for employees at risk of assault due to the nature of their work including those who may need to use physical intervention to escort or hold an individual.

The knowledge element covers all aspects of physical intervention through to safe and appropriate restraint. The practical element addresses the appropriate level of training for the role covering for example, avoiding assault, disengagement skills and safer guiding and escorting skills. This can be extended to cover holding and restraint skills if this is required in the role.

Maybo supports learners over the 30 learning hours, which will include underpinning knowledge of physical intervention and training with simple, non-aggressive, practical skills appropriate to their role.

Assessment
Both qualifications involve a multi choice assessment that can be completed at the end of the training or at an on-line assessment centre.

The qualification itself can cost as little as £30 per delegate and there is potential to draw down funding for this. The cost of learning materials and practical training to support the qualification will depend on the level and extent required.

Trainer qualifications

As part of its bespoke trainer training for companies Maybo can also offer trainer qualifications in conflict management - that is City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Teach (7303) and City & Guilds Level 3 Delivering Conflict management training (1886), incorporating the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management (1884).
