Maybo: Managing Conflict

Maybo Newsletter

Welcome to Maybo's eighth e-newsletter.

Maybo has gathered information from delegates on its courses to build up a national cross-sector picture of violence in the workplace. Results from this poll show that 80 per cent of delegates on training courses had experienced verbal abuse and 33 per cent suffered assaults at work.

The results demonstrated how work related verbal or physical abuse is a significant problem in many working environments. Across the groups 14 per cent of delegates were physically assaulted in the last year, and 69 per cent verbally abused in the last year.

The sectors covered by the poll included ambulance, health and social care, leisure, local authority, retail, security, public transport and voluntary. A repeat survey is planned to identify further trends.

City & Guilds level 2 certificate is now available
The first nationally recognised qualification in Conflict Management, accredited by the government is available from Maybo.

Conflict management training steps up a gear
In response to the overwhelming demand for the only national level 2 conflict management vocational qualification, more trainers can now become qualified to deliver this award.

In order to deliver the new City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management (1884), trainers need to possess an accredited training qualification; show experience and understanding of the sectors covered and possess an accredited qualification in the delivery of conflict management training.

Whether in-house trainers, college tutors or external providers, Maybo has courses that provide the qualifications and expertise needed to operate in different sectors. On completion of the programme trainers will gain the City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate for Deliverers of Conflict Management Training (1886).
