Conflict management in the care world
"Its easy at times to miss the benefits that Care Principles gains from having a Conflict Management and Physical Interventions Corporate Team, many of the achievements are to others intangible, its easy to miss how you may change a staff members perspective just by showing them a different way of working and how this can impact on fostering positive working relationships.
"I truly believe that you as a team have had a major impact on improving patient care across the organisation, it is clear to me we have as an organisation moved away from pain compliance to a model that encourages de-escalation/talk down a model that fosters good therapeutic relationships with patients, a model that puts the patient as Central.
"I am sure that we will over time see even more significant benefits that you bring to CP."
David Bateman, Professional development, Care Principles, care for learning disabilities and mental health
"The training has been fantastic. We could not fault it. New staff are being included to bring them up to speed, and all existing staff will be attending regular refreshers."
Jane Moss, Gretton Homes, carehomes for people with learning disabilities
"The training was very well received and as a result we have now put in place lone worker systems. The trainer was excellent and the training has changed the thinking!"
Drinksense, an alcohol support network
"The Maybo team has always impressed us in many different ways. They are incredibly flexible, willing to learn and positively excel in their desire to refine continually the training content to maintain interest and appropriateness, responding ongoingly to the needs of those who work for the Dignity Group and those who receive our services."
Tim Salmon, General Manager, Dignity Group, care for adults with learning difficulties

"Since the training began in January 2002, we have seen a progressive decrease in reported incidents of physical abuse at the stations that received training."
Richard Absalom, London Ambulance Service
The feedback from SAFERonline was excellent ... and some stated that it was nice to be refreshed on the things that they do every day but often take for granted

"The more confident staff feel to prevent and pre-empt violence the less likely it is that they will need to manage incidents. The more that staff feel they can create an environment in which incidents are less likely to occur, then the safer staff and pupils will be. Maybo's course has really helped key staff to focus on primary and secondary strategies through a good balance of theory and practice. We are already seeing a difference in how situations are handled and how, more importantly, we are working together, pupils and adults, to prevent violent outbursts in our school" .
Headteacher, Primary school
"As far as I can remember no physical on-the-ground technique has been used since the original courses [physical intervention], where as before they were a regular occurrence. I would like to think that this is because staff are now more likely to assess properly a situation instead of jumping in."
The Principal, Pottespury Lodge, school for boys with learning difficulties
"I have worked in special needs education for many years and thought there was nothing new to learn in the area of conflict management. I was wrong. The Maybo course I attended was full of good ideas and useful strategies. I would strongly recommend anyone involved with any work where conflict could happen to take part in a Maybo course. "
Deputy headteacher, Secondary SEBD school.
"The training was a wonderful refresher for all staff. I now think twice, step back, before dealing with any situation. The on-line training was particularly good for learning at our own pace and in our own settings. The knowledge checks were a very helpful way of refocusing my learning. It has really made us think about the priorities for each child - Fight or flight."

"This training made a real difference to how I handle conflict both at work and also at home."

From a trainer using the Maybo licensed programme: "The system is the easiest to use and understand that I have ever seen. Thank you for your help and assistance."
Training Officer, Warrington Training Academy, G4S security services
"I can recall situations where I needed this training. I now understand the greater importance of how straight forward the use of MAYBO is. This training is so valuable to anyone working in the public sector and companies must give this training to all employees."
Employee, South Eastern Trains
"Thank you for delivering such an excellent course to our stand-by tradesmen. The course was fantastic and the participants have all said it was very interesting and worthwhile. Please pass on our thanks to the trainers who were very knowledgeable and great to work with."
Jenni Robison, Dundee City Council
"Just wanted to say thank you for the course yesterday. All the staff fed back how impressed they were that it was channelled specifically to their own roles and concerns."
Sarah, Cambridge Council
"I've been delighted with the whole process. [On a Maybo organised assessment centre] When recruiting into roles such as the street wardens, where interpersonal skills are so important, an interview does not allow any real testing of candidates skills levels. The assessment centre has provided us with much more useful information to enable us to make the right choices."
John Hawes, Hastings Council
The training manager said: "This is good evidence that the training for this individual has been embedded and has proven to be very worthwhile." The estate manager who received the training said: "Meant to write to you to let you know that the Violence and Conflict training I attended proved to be really useful. I recently conducted a joint visit with the police to one of our tenants. The male tenant ( unknown to me at the time) had a history of violence. The tenant was extremely aggressive towards us when we arrived at his door. I felt the situation was in danger of becoming volatile and used one of the techniques shown to us in the training session ----------and it worked!!
He calmed down and I eventually had him laughing! So the course was well worth it."
Colin Ellams, Enfield Borough Council
"This is linking in directly with other training in terms of customer service. So as well as being a very valuable delivery process for reducing violence at work it compliments our other training. Previous conflict training was "how to duck". The beauty of this is that it is about how to prevent situations getting out of hand – eliminating anything before it starts and controlling the conversation."
Tony Holland, South West Trains
"I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank both yourself and your trainer for providing such a comprehensive and interesting training session. The whole presentation was of a particularly high standard, the content was interesting, significant and fun. The trainer went to great lengths to make the material relevant to the workplace"

"When we decided to overhaul our systems for conflict management, Maybo supported us through every stage of the process and they're still here for us today. Maybo took the time to get to know our staff and our business, they took a genuine interest and we feel the benefits of the work they did everyday. The team from Maybo were some of the most positive and easy to work with professionals we've had the pleasure to encounter."
Edward Grassby, Training and Development manager, Valeo, care for people with learning disabilities
“Staff have had to learn by word of mouth before and once they get involved in the training they respond really well. All take something positive away that they feel can work on the door.”
Ian Howe, Executive Training Solutions
"I have been working for over 7 months and never really felt like I was as trained or qualified as other staff. I now feel that we are all on the same level and confident to enter and effectively take part in all situations I may face. We should really take this course at the beginning of our employment |
