Risks to the safety of staff and customers can be hard to mitigate in retail environments, where many factors are present that can lead to disruptive and violent incidents such as theft, anti-social behaviour, groups of young people and homelessness.
We believe that while it is impossible to defuse every situation, by teaching managers, staff and security personnel how best to professionally deal with dissatisfied customers and difficult behaviours, the number of incidents that end in assault or harm can be greatly reduced.
Maybo also provides physical intervention and incident response training for staff and security personnel that undertake activities that carry heightened safety risks, such as confronting suspected thieves.
We have developed bespoke programmes for customer-facing teams and managers at many of the largest international and national retailers for over 20 years. Large and small retailers have also benefited from our work with the British Retail Consortium on educational initiatives such as 'Trouble in Store' and the national guidance we produced for retailers on reducing risk in the Loss Prevention Function, 'Physical Intervention: Reducing Risk'.
