PI module updates 2026
Important updates to Maybo training programmes and supporting processes, introduced from 1 August 2026. They are designed to improve learning outcomes, enhance safety, streamline administration and give services more flexibility.
Updated physical intervention modules
Maybo has completed a comprehensive review and refresh of its adult physical intervention training modules. The updated modules have been fully rebuilt to improve clarity, consistency and usability.
Key module enhancements include:
- Improved slide design and course structure
- Clearer definitions of techniques, applications and elective content
- Enhanced trainer guidance and session planning resources
- Updated warm-up activities with improved safety guidance
- Improved accessibility features, including consideration for learners with dyslexia and enhanced video guidance
- Stronger safety briefings covering emotional trauma and psychological responses, alcohol and medication considerations, clothing, gender and cultural sensitivities, and environmental safety and jewellery removal
Physical skills review
As part of the review, the physical intervention toolbox has been streamlined to improve learning and application in practice:
- Reduction from 129 techniques to 64 core techniques
- Introduction of 9 new techniques
- Removal of 3 techniques: Object Removal, Cross Body Escort and Seated Wraps (Wheelchair)
These changes support a stronger focus on practical application, safer delivery and increased confidence in using interventions appropriately within local service environments.
