• Responding to the complex needs and behaviours of people with acquired brain injury

    Neuro-Disability

Professionals working in neuro-disability settings strive to provide the highest possible level of care for service users and patients who have varied and often complex requirements. Maybo’s award-winning training aims to help reduce the pressure being faced by staff, by providing them with the skills to cope in challenging situations, so that they can provide the best possible care to the people they support.

    Proven experience and expertise

Maybo training carers of people who have acquired brain injury with positive approaches to behaviours of concern based on understanding and meeting needs. This includes understanding how patients' ABI, personal circumstances, staff and environment influence their needs and behaviours.

We have developed safer working practices for common tasks in ABI services that reduce arousal, improve communications and keep staff safe. This can extend to clinical holding where necessary.

We provide staff with primary and secondary strategies to prevent and defuse behaviours that challenge, this helps staff them to:

    • Better understand a person’s physiological and emotional needs
    • Improve their environment
    • Engage them in ways that reduce behaviours that challenge
    • Reduce the need for restrictive practices

Our physical skills are gentle and low arousal, yet robust and safe for use with adults and children when required as a last resort.

Maybo has achieved BILD accreditation for our work within adult and children’s services. Our training is also in line with guidance from NHS Protect, DHSC, CQC, NICE, Skills for Health, RCN and RRN.

We are the preferred training provider for some of the largest care providers across the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

    • May I say a big thank you for the Maybo violence and aggression course for the ITU nurses. I attended the course today and it was excellent. I think the staff would all agree that the knowledge and skills taught will be hugely beneficial, but in addition, it was a great team-building exercise too. I feel it is imperative that all our ITU nurses attend this course.
