IOSH Magazine has published a useful guide that highlights the steps employers can take to review staff competence as they return to work following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The guidance aims to support employers in ensuring a return to pre-pandemic levels of safety and performance.

Regulatory lawyer Rhian Greaves highlights that in many cases the capabilities of staff will have a bearing not just on the health and safety of colleagues, but also on visitors, contractors, service users and members of the public.

Due to this, employers have a legal duty to provide employees with the information, instruction, training and supervision that is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, their health and safety.

Rhian provides 10 top tips for employers which range from undertaking a risk assessment that considers how things have evolved and changed in the business, to undertaking refresher retraining.
