    Maybo sets the benchmark for conflict management, risk reduction and physical intervention training for health and social care providers. Our comprehensive training aims to help develop awareness and safer working practices in order to create positive and safer environments for patients and staff.

    NHS staff can find themselves subject to challenging behaviour due to a patient, or service user, acting unpredictably due to a clinically related or mental health issue, such as dementia.

    Maybo provides staff with the skills and confidence to de-escalate and manage challenging behaviours that represent a risk to safety.

    We have played an important role in developing guidance on the prevention and management of clinical assaults within the NHS, as well as the use of physical interventions by security personnel operating in healthcare settings in England.

    Our training is in line with guidance from the British Institute for Learning Disabilities, NHS Protect, Department for Health and Social Care, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, Skills for Health, and Royal College of Nursing, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Restraint Reduction Network.

    Our physical skills are proven to be safe, gentle and low arousal when required as a last resort.


    Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards

    The 1st April 2019 saw the launch of the new Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards for training services delivered to education, health and social care services that support people with autism, learning disabilities, dementia and mental health conditions across the UK.

    Commissioned by the NHS, the Standards are intended to provide a national benchmark for training in supporting people who are distressed in education, health and social care settings.

    On 20th December 2019, the BILD Association of Certified Training announced that Maybo has "demonstrated their training services comply with the criteria set out in the RRN Training Standards, which will be a requirement for all NHS commissioned services and the Care Quality Commission from April 2020".

    As one of the first training organisations involved in the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) and Positive and Safe Champions Networks, Maybo welcomes these new standards that keep the focus on reducing restrictive practices. We are pleased the standards embrace a person-centred, human rights approach to restrictive interventions which is consistent with our beliefs and training approach.
