We’re proud to announce that following successful completion of our 3-year review, Maybo training services have been re-certified by the BILD Association of Certified Training as complying with the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards 2021.
We received the highest level of recommendation, Level 1, which means we are certified for another 3 years subject to ongoing annual reviews.
April the 1st 2019 saw the launch of the standards, which are designed to protect fundamental human rights and promote person-centred and therapeutic approaches to supporting people when distressed across the education, health and social care sectors, in the UK and internationally.
Maybo was one of the first five organisations to achieve BILD ACT Certification, which means we play an important role supporting organisations to achieve Bild ACT affiliate status, in line with the RRN Training Standards.
The standards aim to facilitate culture change and exist to:
- Improve the quality of life of those being restrained and those supporting them
- Reduce reliance on restrictive practices by promoting positive culture and focuses on prevention, de-escalation and reflective practice
- Increase understanding of the root causes of behaviour and recognition that many behaviours are the result of distress due to unmet needs
- Ensure the safest and most dignified use of restrictive interventions, including physical restraint
